What is Bandwidth?

It is the volume of data that is transmitted over a communication line within a fixed amount of time. In other words bandwidth is the average rate of successful data transfer through a communication path, expressed in bits/second or multiples of it (kilobits/s, megabits/s etc) or bytes per second for digital devices and Hertz (Hz) for analog devices. It can also be referred to as the difference between a band of frequencies or wavelengths.
