What is Sampling?

Sampling is a method that reduces the continuous signal to a discrete signal (converse a sound wave to a sequence of samples). It is used to measure the value of an analog signal at regular intervals since sample refers to a value at a point time or space. It encodes these signals into a digital format for VoIP phone services.
