Installing Asterisk Extensions in Ozeki PBX
This page intends to give you information about how can you modernise your already existing, old Asterisk PBX with installing the extensions in your new, revolutionary Ozeki Phone System server. To get to know the how-to, please read through this page and get informed about the way you can renew your telecommunication.
You may want to install your olda Asterisk extensions becasue you have decided to extend the capacity of your telecommunication system - so the Ozeki Phone System PBX was the definite answer. In order to use the same configurations that you used with your old Asterisk PBX, you can import them without trouble.
After you have imported the Asterisk configurations you have built up with great effort, your new system will look like this: your former extensions (Extension 1, 2 and 3 in Figure 1) will remain the same, but your new extensions that the Ozeki Phone System provide will be added to your system (Extension 4, 5, 6). The two systems can work together: in this case, they will be connected with a SIP trunk line.
If you have an Asterisk PBX already installed, you do not have to re-configure all your extensions because you have decided to use the high technology Ozeki Phone System. All your configurations and extensions can stay as they are with the Ozeki Phone System superb feature, the posibility of importing configurations from other PBXs.
One-click Import to Your Ozeki Phone System
It is not a challenging task to import your former configurations – where the extensions belong to – to your new and modern Ozeki Phone System PBX (Private Branch eXchange). Your task is to create a backup folder that you can use for importing configurations.
For doing this, you should run this shell script in your Linux console:
- ora=`date '+%Y.%m.%d-%H.%M.%S'`
- tar zcf etc-asterisk-$ora.tar.gz /etc/asterisk
- tar zcf var-log-asterisk-$ora.tar.gz /var/log/asterisk
- tar zcf var-lib-asterisk-$ora.tar.gz /var/lib/asterisk
- tar zcf var-spool-asterisk-$ora.tar.gz /var/spool/asterisk
- tar zcf usr-lib-asterisk-$ora.tar.gz /usr/lib/asterisk
- tar zcf var-lib-mysql-$ora.tar.gz /var/lib/mysql
- tar zcf usr-local-tomcat-$ora.tar.gz /usr/local/tomcat/webapps
- tar zcf asterisk-stuff-$ora.tgz *$ora*
- rm -f $ora.tar.gz
Now a tar.gz fájl is created that contains all the important configuration files. The next step is to start the Ozeki Phone System WebGUI: click on File / Import. A new tab will show up where you can browse the path for the tar.gz file that you have just created with running the shell script above. Click OK, and let the Ozeki Phone System finish the import.
When your Ozeki Phone System is ready, a message box will infom you about it. Please resart the application to have all the new configuration data initialised. After the restart you can use all the features you used with your old Asterisk system, with the addition of the Ozeki Phone System features.
Please note: if you have two or more PBX systems with the same configuration (e.g. same extension numbers) then it may cause problems in communication. When you import configuration from one phone system to your new Ozeki Phone System, it is recommended to uninstall the former one as soon as possible.
