VoIP billing refers to the process of charging for the services provided. You subscribe for or buy some kind of service from a provider and you pay after the services you use (Figure 1).
In relation with the topic it is worth mentioning a few words about VoIP phone calls. You are able to call VoIP phones and even traditional analog phones via the Internet. The phones first connect to a server and then it uses the Internet to transmit the call to other phones. If you are calling an analog phone, first your VoIP phone connects to the Internet, then the call goes through a PSTN network and the connection is set up with the analog phone.
Calling a VoIP phone is much cheaper than calling an analog phone. It is because making a call to anoher country is made through a VoIP channel and when you are connected to the traditional phone you are only charged for the local tariffs.
Paying Solutions
- Pre-paid service
- Post-paid service
Pre-paid service customers need to buy call credit to be able to use the services. Here is an example: a pre-paid customer is able to buy a card that's worth $25 and this card enables the customer to make calls, send text messages and other, different kinds of data for $25.
As usual, the pre-paid VoIP service is much more simple and cheaper than post-paid services. It is suitable for those people who use VoIP on a regular basis but do not need it much frequently.
Post-paid customers are charged every month for using some kind of service of a provider. The post-paid billing is usually based on a contract.
The post-paid service is good for those (mainly bigger businesses) who handle a great number of VoIP calls on a daily basis. Users of this solution has to pay for the services monthly and in return they get unlimited VoIP calls.
If you download and install the Ozeki Phone System, it will make your work more efficient by allowing you to make VoIP calls. Voice over IP technology can offer you lower costs in phoning.
