LAN and VLAN Networks
LAN, or local area network is the term for those networks where two or more computers or other communication devices are connected. This system is used for internal communication, for example in the case of companies, schools, offices or in homes where at least two computers are used for playing multiplayer games.
LANs can be created simply with the help of a switch or a router (this is the physical connection) and with a simple configuration on the devices.
VLAN stands for virtual LAN that means that the participants of the LAN network are connected only virtually: the physical connection is set through the Internet (Figure 1).
VoIP, or Voice over IP is a technology that is used in Internet-based communication for transferring the data packets. Sending the data packets is similar to sending packs through post offices: both the sender and the receiver need an address in order to manage the deliver. In the case of VoIP communication, the data packets can be delivered with the help of the Internet Protocol addresses of the sender and the receiver.
Both LAN and VLAN connection need the participant's IP address to set the connection.
VLAN and the Internet
If you want to connect several devices that are far from each other in a VLAN network, with the help of the Internet, you can do it two ways. The first way is to set the connection with using the IP addresses and then create the network on your own.
The second solution is to have a SIP account in the Ozeki Phone System: with the help of this, you are given a system that is ready for use, you just need to connect your devices to the communication centre. With the help of the Ozeki Phone System, you do not have to spend time for connecting the devices and do not need to waste energy on creating the network. With connecting the devices one by one to the Ozeki Phone System, your VLAN network is ready to be used.
The Ozeki Phone System have role in building up the network, managing the data transfer and to ensure the troublefree communication among the participants. Using Ozeki Phone System for creating and handling vlan systems makes your VoIP communication easy to use and of high quality.
