What is CAPI (Common Application Programming Interface)?
In the section below you can get to know the Common Application Programming Interface that is used to work with ISDN networks. It is a brief introduction to CAPI platforms, functionalities and features. Read on and get to know how you can use it with Ozeki Phone System.
CAPI is applied directly or even indirectly by applications that work with ISDN or some other, similar networks (Figure 1). It can access ISDN equipment that is connected to BRI (Basic Rate Interface) and PRI (Primary Rate Interface).
CAPI provides an interface to ISDN hardware elements.
Overview
API usually includes a description about routines, data structures and variables. API can describe how a certain task is presented.
CAPI can be used on the following platforms to use applications
- Windows 10, 2008 etc
- DOS
- Unix
- Linux
- OS/2
- BeOS
- Netware
Functionalities
- it can control calls
- controls service
- DTMF identification
- provides support for several applications
CAPI can be
- language-dependent (using parts and elements of a certain language)
- language-independent (it can be used in any programming languages)
CAPIs are usually for applying communication applications. It provides a base for telephony, networking, transferring files and sharing applications.
The Ozeki Phone System supports different kinds of API: C# API, SQL API, HTTP API, Command line API. If you download and install Ozeki Phone system you have accessibility to all the features and possibilities Ozeki Phone System provides.
